May 15th is National Peace Officers Memorial Day. In honor of this day, the Covington County Sheriff’s Department recognized former Sheriff James Asaph Robertson, who was killed in the line of duty in 1906. A wreath was placed on his grave as a reminder of the ultimate sacrifice he gave to this county.
The local cub scouts came as well as deputies and former county sheriffs to honor his service. Bro Chad Cummins, pastor at Evergreen Baptist Church, led and closed in prayer. Sheriff Darrell Perkins read Mr. Robertson’s history.
