Man Charged with Murder in Seminary Shooting

On the evening of Sunday, May 17th, deputies were dispatched to an address on Evergreen Church Rd. in reference to a shooting.


When deputies arrived, they located the victim lying on the floor next to the doorway with gunshot wounds. The suspect, identified as James Caves, had already left the scene before deputies arrived.


Paramedics arrived on scene, and the victim was pronounced dead.


The scene was secured for investigators and evidence collected. The suspect in the shooting, James Caves of Sanford , turned himself into the Sheriff’s Office a short time later. The firearm from the incident was located at another location and taken as evidence.


Caves was officially charged with murder, and his bond was set at $1,000,000 by Justice Court Judge Bobby Wayne Mooney.
